Canasta appears on compilation, announces next show

(sent on 2004-02-10)

Even though Canasta is taking some time off from performing, we haven't been able to stay out of the public eye! "Chance at Greatness," from the Find the Time EP, was selected to appear on the latest installment of Cherry Bomb, a monthly compilation of Chicago bands. The 18-track CD features Kelly Hogan, The Scotland Yard Gospel Choir, Pedal Steel Transmission, The Like Young, and Owen, among others. It is absolutely FREE and is currently available at the following locations only:

Noir, Blue Line, Fortunato, Asrai Garden, John Fluevog, Sound Gallery, West Town Tavern, Phyllis' Musical Inn, LT's Grill, Steelo, Public i, Delilah's, Picante, G, Privata Italian Restaurant, Myopic Books, Bamboo Nail Salon, and Mas.

There are only 1,000 copies of the disc and they go fast, so pick one up while supplies last!

Canasta is also pleased to announce our next show will be an AIDS benefit at the Bottom Lounge on Saturday, April 3. We'll be playing with Health & Beauty, Velvetron, and Millimeters Mercury. We've been working on several new songs, so come and check out what we've been up to!

Last but not least, photos from our show last month at Schubas are currently online. Thanks to Dan Locke and Kenan Hebert for additional photos.
