Thank you all for voting. We are pleased to announce that the winners of our covers contest are “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” and “The Only Living Boy in New York” -- which leads us to believe that you just like long song titles. Don't worry, it's cool. We'll be presenting a couple of new originals at our Practice Space show at Schubas on April 3, and the covers will debut during the subsequent weeks of the Monday night residency. Some of us are already working on that Jon Cryer-as-Duckie hairstyle that the Tears for Fears dudes had on the cover of Songs From the Big Chair.

In other news… As Ne-Yo has recently taught us on his hit single “So Sick,” it's not always easy to just turn off the radio. So as long as you've got it on, why not tune into the two radio appearances Canasta will be making next week? On Wednesday, April 5, we'll be interviewed on WBEZ/Chicago Public Radio's Eight Forty-Eight program, sometime between 9 and 10 AM on 91.5 FM. And then on Friday, April 7, we'll be playing live on WLUW's Full-On Friday show, at 5 PM on 88.7 FM. Rock.

As part of our upcoming Practice Space residency at Schubas (every Monday in April), we are going to learn a couple of new cover songs. But just to make it a little more interesting, we've decided to open up the selection process to you, the fans. Take a look at the eleven nominees below, and then send an e-mail to with your favorite two (2) choices. The top two vote-getters will then be performed at Schubas sometime next month. Voting ends on Wednesday, March 15, at 5 PM.
