2004 was a very good year for Canasta. We made our out-of-state debut at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York. We played our biggest shows yet with artists like The Delgados, The Posies, Elf Power, Crooked Fingers, Saturday Looks Good to Me, Sea Ray, and Beauty Pill, as well as gigs with new found local friends such as The Scotland Yard Gospel Choir, Edith Frost, Palaxy Tracks, and The M's. We also sold over 650 copies of our Find the Time EP, which received glowing reviews from publications like the Chicago Reader, Sun-Times, Chicago FreePress, Illinois Entertainer, and PopMatters, plus airplay on radio stations such as WXRT, WBEZ, WLUW and WRDP.

So far, our plans for 2005 include a short tour in March, culminating with the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas. Sadly, we're also saying goodbye to our guitarist Jeff and thus, on the lookout for someone new to jump in and fill the void. But before he leaves, we're recording our long-awaited full-length album and then releasing it this spring. It's been an amazing year, so thanks to our friends, families and fans who have made it all possible -- you're the best!
