CANASTA: Track 10 // FREE Downloads // Live on WBEZ's "848" // Early Press

(sent on 2010-05-03)

Fancy running into you here! Lots to cover this week...

NOW ACCEPTING PRE-ORDERS!
It's that time! If you're in Chicago, you can get your hands on the CD at this weekend's release shows (Sat. 5/8 @ Schubas). But otherwise, the album's official street date is Tue. 5/18, when it should be available from iTunes, CD Baby and record stores. But if you prefer your water "straight from the tap" (as they say), pre-order it now directly from us and we'll ship it to you so that it arrives by then! And we're keeping the price low too: just $10, plus $2 for S&H if you're in the U.S. We've got a PayPal account (orders@canastamusic.com), but for more info on sending a check, international shipping and/or buying other music and merch, please e-mail us at that address or visit our "store" page. Thanks!

TRACK 10: "THROAWAY" + *THREE* FREE DOWNLOADS FROM THE FAKEOUT
Is it just me or is it getting dark in here? You know how the drill...

Stream track 10: Throwaway
FREE Downloads: Mexico City // I Don't Know Where I Was Going with This // Reading the Map Upside Down

CANASTA ON AIR: LIVE ON WBEZ'S "848" (THIS THURS. 5/6), PLUS CHIRP, XRT, Q101 & FEARLESS RADIO
If you happened to be listening to either XRT or Q101 last night, you may have caught "Mexico City, "Becoming You" or an interview with Matt. If not though, fear not... Canasta will be playing live in the studio on WBEZ's "Eight Forty-Eight" (91.5 FM) this coming Thursday, 5/6, sometime between 9 and 10 AM. It'll mark Ryan's debut on the piano, which you don't wanna miss. Otherwise, please consider requesting tunes from your favorite station. Locally, Fearless Radio has been spinning "Choosing Sides" (request it here), as has CHIRP, our proud sponsors of the release shows, who have also been rocking "Magazine (Songwriter on a Train)" (request those by calling 773.828.8287).

AND SO IT BEGINS: THE FAKEOUT PRESS START ROLLING IN...
This week's most noteable press comes from The Onion ("patient songs, taking a good five or six minutes to completely unfold every lush, moody wrinkle"), Flavorpill ("Chicago's leading orchestral-pop outfit... thoroughly modern chamber music") and Metromix ("another impressive indie pop record"). But if you enjoy reading about us as much as we do (heh), then you may wanna dig deeper and take a look at pieces by Examiner ("thoughtful, heartfelt pop that reveals more and more to love with each listen"), The Deli ("pop gem... promises to be worth the wait"), Chi-Town Notes ("orchestral pop geniuses... a fantastic success") and Chicago Magazine ("elegantly urgent"... though you'll have to go out and find a hard copy of that last one).
