CANASTA: New Press + Upcoming Shows (Mpls, Wheaton)

(sent on 2006-01-26)

Hey Canasta fans,

We're still swimming in good press for We Were Set Up. In a glowing review, Mike Bennett of Fufkin.com calls the record “smart pop nirvana … an album you can live with and hear new things from throughout the year.” The Pitt News in Pittsburgh gives the album four stars, noting that our “sense of what makes for quality music is evident with just one listen.” Closer to home, The DePaulia remarks upon our “relaxed, positive mood” and “infectious optimism.” And meanwhile, Flavorpill says we're one of Chicago's “brightest local stars,“ with radio station WXRT also naming "Slow Down Chicago" one of the best local songs of 2005.

If you haven't yet picked up a copy of the record, it's still available from our online store for only $10 (plus S&H), payable by check or PayPal. Or you can always find one at one of our upcoming shows. As we noted in our last e-mail, we'll be in Minneapolis this Friday, January 27, at the 400 Bar. And then in a couple of weeks, on Saturday, February 11, we'll be playing an all-ages show at the Wheaton Grand Theater in Wheaton, Illinois. Depending on where you live, we'd love to see you at either show!

Take care,

Your pals in Canasta
