Canasta fans,
Thanks to everyone who came out to support us last week at the Empty Bottle. It was great to see so many of so soon after our big Metro show!
Our next Chicago show will be Thursday, March 24, at Double Door, with England's Kaiser Chiefs and local talents, The Changes. Kaiser Chiefs are the latest buzz band from across the pond, with a forthcoming album on Universal. For the past year, they've been picking up ecstatic praise from nearly every major UK publication for their "brilliantly catchy and raucous pop" reminiscent of The Clash, Blur, Madness, and XTC. They even landed the #1 spot on Rolling Stone's "2005 Hot List" and seem to be building a lot of momentum, so come out and say you saw them before they got big! Canasta hits the stage at 9pm sharp!
Before that show, though, we'll be appearing at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, on Saturday, March 19. We're honored to play the first annual Chicago Pop Renaissance there, sponsored by The Onion, RWIM and Satellite Booking, and featuring our friends Head of Femur, Edith Frost, and The Scotland Yard Gospel Choir, plus Manishevitz and Grizzly Bear. If you know anyone who'll be in town for the festival, the show is at 1 PM at Momo's (618 W. 6th St.) and is absolutely FREE.
And just a reminder... we're heading down to Indianapolis, Louisville and Nashville this weekend (March 11, 12 & 13, respectively). So if you've got friends in those areas, please send them to the shows page of our website for all the details. Thanks and see you soon!
