CANASTA - Tomorrow (Thursday) @ Empty Bottle + New Press

(sent on 2004-06-23)

Just a reminder: Canasta will be playing at the Empty Bottle TOMORROW, June 24. We're opening for Sea Ray, a Brooklyn indie-pop sextet who's been getting a lot of good press lately. In fact, the "Chicago Reader" praises the "lushness of their cinematic songs" in a Critic's Choice this week. So we're obviously very pleased to be sharing a stage with them. The show starts at 9:30 pm, and we'll be playing second, after the local band Magnus. We'll be trying out yet ANOTHER new song, so please come out if you want to keep up with all our latest sounds!

In other news, Find the Time is slowly but surely garnering some more press. The webzine Splendid recently reviewed the record, and although not all of the tracks were the critic's cup of tea, he had this to say about "Slow Down Chicago": "I was hooked from the opening organ chords all the way through to the swelling climax of horns and violin. Matt Priest's vocals, slightly reminiscent of Rufus Wainwright, were convincingly emotive without being melodramatic, and the instrumentation was pure chamber pop bliss." Nice!

See you at the show!
