CANASTA - Next show: 6/24 + On the radio again

(sent on 2004-06-07)

Thanks to everyone who showed up to our Subterranean show on Monday, especially at the tail end of a long weekend. We had a great time, and it's always nice to see so many familiar faces.

Our next show (drum roll please) will be Thursday, June 24, at the Empty Bottle. We'll be opening for Sea Ray, a Brooklyn indie-rock sextet with a moody, spacey take on chamber pop. They've been getting a lot of attention lately: Rolling Stone calls their album a "gorgeous, bursting collection of rock songs" and Time Out NY says it "undulates with gentle beauty and an often heartbreaking melancholy." They'll be fresh off national tours with The Church, The Stills, and Metric and they always bring along a film projector, so it should be an awesome performance. The show starts at 9:30, and we'll be playing second, after the local band Magnus. We're thrilled that the venue has asked us back so quickly, so we hope to see plenty of you there, too.

Canasta also has another radio appearance coming up. Next Saturday, June 12, we'll be in the studio of DePaul University's radio station, WRDP (640 AM), as part of their Music with Meaning festival. We'll be on from 2-4 pm, and we'll be followed by our friends the Scotland Yard Gospel Choir, so be sure to tune in for a rollicking musical afternoon.

And thank you, as always, for all of your support!
