Birthday / Sign: April 17 / Aries

Band nickname: KRISS KUT

Instruments: Violin and vocals

1st concert you attended: Peter, Paul, & Mary (when I was like 6) or Richard Marx (won free tickets in 8th grade from Z95) or They Might Be Giants (first show I bought tickets for myself)

1st tape or CD purchase: First CD was a Peter Gabriel CD (Matt’s gonna kill me…)

Best concert you ever attended: Solomon Burke at the Chicago Theater, Basement Jaxx at the Metro

Some favorite bands: Stars, Clem Snide, Delgados (RIP)

What have you been listening to lately? Jim Croce, sad that Tori Amos covered “Operator” before we did. I kept telling the band that we should cover “Operator” but no one listened to me :(

What’s the best part about being in a band? The chicks

Hardest part? I need a lot of sleep, and I don’t get enough sleep.

Favorite Canasta moment? Our band pow-wow backstage before our first Metro show.

Favorite color: Burgundy

Favorite food: Eggnog pancackes at Toast

Favorite book: Yeah, I dunno. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance? The Man who Mistook His Wife for a Hat? My mind always goes blank for questions like these.

Favorite movie: Movie? Who has time for movies? I like Sense & Sensibility a lot.

Pet? (current or childhood): SADIE

Favorite Childhood Vacation: Being an only child, we didn’t really take vacations. Once we took a family trip to Niagara Falls, and stayed in B&Bs and old inns. I loved the hotels, the old places.

Favorite weather: 70s and sunny - duh.

If you could live somewhere other than Chicago, where would it be?
Akaroa, New Zealand
Austin, Texas
Krakow, Poland
San Francisco, California, if I was rich
Berlin, Germany

Favorite piece of clothing you own: My brown sweater w/ the stripey sleeves. You’ll see it in like half the band photos.

Favorite game: Cards are fun - Spades and Hearts are great. Also Cribbage. And as for board games, Scattergories, Outburst, Pictionary, all those are fun. Can I rant about how NOT fun Cranium is? It’s such a crock. Every old adult party I go to, “Oh, let’s play Cranium!” Sounds like fun, right? Pictionary meets charades meets Trivial Pursuit? With that clay that smells really really weird?

Yeah, well, Cranium is BS. You land on the square for the “fast track” and suddenly you're beating everyone by like half a dozen squares?

But the worst part is the absolute total inconsistency in the difficulty of the different cards. Some of the trivia ones are like the world’s easiest **TRUE AND FALSE** questions?!?! Meaning that even at random you’ve got a 50% chance of getting it right? And other ones, it‘s like, “Hum this country song that no one has ever heard of”?!?! WTF?

Oh and speaking of Trivial Pursuit, I thought I was good at it until I played with Ben Bass. Um, yeah, no, I am not good a Trivial Pursuit. Ben answers the question and then throws additional bonus trivia. “Yes, well, that would be Connecticut, also known as the Chestnut State.”

In Canasta, each member brings their unique strengths to the music. What do you bring to the band? Hmm. That’s a hard one. I’m not an amazing musician by any means. Maybe it’s my ability to pester people to help get stuff done. I’m good and networking when I have time to network. I also do a lot of band administration.
